Škoda Auto – Czech carmaker, part of the Volkswagen Group (VAG) and produces cars under the brand Škoda. The company headquarter is located in Mlada Boleslav (Czech Republic).

The history of cars, wearing now the brand Skoda, began with the end of 1895 in the Czech town of Mlada Boleslav. The bookseller Vaclav Laurin and Vaclav Klement (mechanic), both keen cyclists, started producing bicycles of their own design, patriotically named them – Slavia.

They fared well. By 1899, the company Laurin & Klement Co. began producing motorcycles. Riders scored their first victories in international competitions.

Then the company has taken another important step – car production.

The company currently manufactures also trucks, buses, aircraft engines and agricultural machinery.
